Mr. Jack Albert is an Alabama native and proud graduate of the University of North Alabama Band Program, where he served as percussion section leader and performed as the set player for the Studio Jazz Band and Jazz Combo. He brings extensive teaching experience at both the high school and collegiate levels and understands the many roles the percussion section plays within a successful band program.
Jack studied under Dr. Iain Moyer during his time at UNA and further expanded his expertise as a member of the Madison Scouts Drum and Bugle Corps, working with percussion caption head Colin McNutt. His background reflects a deep commitment to excellence in both performance and pedagogy.
While teaching at the secondary level, Jack founded Sparkman Indoor Percussion, leading the ensemble to numerous awards and establishing a strong reputation for quality and innovation. He also has significant experience writing for collegiate ensembles and within the drum corps activity, consistently producing exciting, effective, and appropriately leveled compositions and arrangements.
Jack’s percussion writing elevates every chart he touches—bringing energy, clarity, and creativity to the full ensemble.
Dr. Lloyd E. Jones served as Director of Bands at the University of North Alabama for 26 years, shaping the signature look and sound of the Marching Pride. His innovative drill designs and distinctive musical arrangements led the ensemble to numerous accolades, regional exhibitions, BOA events—including four Grand Nationals exhibitions—and the 2025 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. His work with the Studio Jazz Band also earned him wide acclaim, making it one of UNA’s most popular ensembles.
With more than 150 drill designs and musical arrangements written for high school and collegiate programs across the Southeast, Dr. Jones brings decades of proven experience to every project. His philosophy is simple: music should be engaging, entertaining, and achievable for students, while drill design and staging should elevate the musical performance and showcase the visual ensemble effectively.
These guiding principles have helped countless bands achieve success in competition and at athletic events. Today, Dr. Jones continues to share his expertise through LEJ Music Services, offering fresh concepts, thoughtful design, and a commitment to helping programs shine.
